Research Institute of Influenza, St-Petersburg, Russia Avian influenza viruses are zoonotic agents recognized as a growing threat to both veterinary and human public health. During last years infection of humans with avian influenza viruses subtypes H5, H7 and H9 has been detected on multiple occasions as result of evolution of the viruses and acquisition of the capacity to infect humans directly without prior adaptation in mammalian hosts. Influenza H5N1 virus appeared to be the most pathogenic both for avian and humans and mortality often exceeds 50%. Research set in motion by WHO, s surveillance network, national authorities and laboratories need in better preparedness to act for early determination of transmission of the agents in humans. The goal of our investigation was to develop new panel of monoclonal antibodies to avian influenza viruses. Apathogenic influenza A H5N2 ; strain was used as immunogen. As result of these investigations two MAbs directed according to western blot analysis to epitopes of HA1 molecule HA1 MAbs ; and two MAbs to NP determinants NP MAbs ; were obtained. All cows developed typical signs of acute clinical mastitis by 12 to postinoculation. Parenteral cefquinome treatment, with or without intramammary cefquinome, significantly improved clinical recovery and return to milk production. The bacteriological cure rates were significantly higher for cows in the groups treated with cefquinome than for cows in the control group treated with intramammary ampicillin and cloxacillin. In this study the importance of coliform mastitis in Israeli dairy herds was demonstrated. NSAIDs were beneficial in the treatment of clinical mastitis and ketoprofen seems to be more so than phenylbutazone and dipyrone. Treatment with the antimicrobial TMS was found effective in field cases and cefquinome in experimentally induced mastitis. However, more studies are required keeping in mind economical and public health aspects related to the use of these drugs in dairy cows.
COMPOSITION : Each capsule contains 250 mg ampicillin BP and 250 mg cloxacillin BP. PROPERTIES: AMPLIUM is a broad spectrum antibiotic combination consisting of two semi- synthetic penicillins; ampicillin and cloxacillin. Since ampicillin is active against a broad bacterial spectrum, it is particularly indicated in infections caused by gram-negative micro-organisms not susceptible to penicillin G. However, since ampicillin is not active against pencillinase producing staphylococci, cloxacillin a selectively efficacious antibiotic used in the treatment of infections caused by pencillinase producing staphylococcai has been combined with it in order to complete the spectrum of activity of AMPLIUM. INDICATIONS All bacterial infections due to susceptible micro-organisms of the respiratory, gastro-intestinal, urinary tract and skin. CONTRA-INDICATIONS: Proven hypersensitivity to penicillins and cephalosporins. SIDE EFFECTS: Hypersensitivity reactions and severe anaphylaxis are very rare following oral administration. The onset of such reactions is however more frequent in subjects with a history of hypersensitivity reactions to multiple allergens, asthma hay fever and urticaria. Other untoward reactions following oral administration include nausea vomiting or diarrhoea. Cross-allergic reactions may occur between penicillins and cephalosporins. In cases of allergic reactions therapy is to be interrupted. Prolonged therapy with penicillins or other antibiotics may encourage the growth of non susceptible micro-organisms including fungi. CAUTIONS: History of allergy; renal impairment; erythematous rashes common in glandular fever, chronic lymphatic leukaemia and possibly HIV infections. DOSAGE: Adults: 1 capsule every 6 hours. Because of massive overprescription at least 30 years ago, bacterial resistance has posed a serious problem to its continued use and has prompted development of new viable derivatives thereof. A mixture of penicillin analogs penicillin G, penicillin V, cloxacillin, piperacillin, amoxicillin and ampicillin ; was prepared specifically to examine selectivities of the different Discovery bonded phases for these similar structures. Penicillins G & V differ by the insertion of an additional oxygen as an ether in the case of penicillin G. Cloxacillij and piperacillin both contain bulky side chains, and amoxicillin differs from ampicillin by the addition of a phenolic hydroxyl. Dose- Co-amoxiclav tablets 375mg, 625mg; suspension 125 31 SF, 250 62 SF. 1 year, 0.25mL kg of 125 31 suspension 3 times daily for 5-7 days. 1-6 years, 5mL of 125 31 suspension 3 times daily for 5-7 days. 7-12 years, 5mL of 250 62 suspension 3 times daily for 5-7 days. 12-18 years, 375mg 3 times daily for 5-7 days. In severe infections, dose of suspension may be doubled. If tablets are prescribed, the dose may be increased to 625mg co-amoxiclav to avoid excessive doses of clavulanic acid. - Clarithromycin tablets 250mg, 500mg; suspension 125mg 5mL, 250mg Birth - 1 year, 7.5mg kg twice a day for 7 days. 1-2 years, 62.5mg twice a day for 7 days. 3-6 years, 125mg twice a day for 7 days. 7-9 years, 187.5mg twice a day for 7 days. 10-18 years, 250mg twice a day for 7 days. Doses up to 500mg twice a day have been used to treat severe infection. - Clotrimazole cream 1%. All ages, apply 2-3 times a day continuing for 14 days after lesions have healed. - Erythromycin tablets 250mg, 500mg; tablets e c 250mg; oral suspension 125mg 5mL, 250mg Birth - 1 month, 12.5mg kg four times a day for 7 days. 1 month - 2 years, 125mg four times a day for 7 days. 2-8 years, 250mg four times a day for 7 days. 9-18 years, 500mg four times a day for 7 days.
